Setting Our Face

Thank you for joining us today! Welcome–it’s Faith Connections Friday!

Is there a vision or a purpose you are eagerly awaiting to achieve? Attending an event? Giving a special gift? Meeting a goal?

We are eagerly approaching Easter. The festivities surrounding this holiday come with activities for families to enjoy outdoors, new clothing, and lots of chocolate!

Jesus also awaited this special day. In the Gospels, we see numerous times that He intently set His face toward Jerusalem. He was steadfast. His eyes were fixed.

Reaching His ultimate goal, however, entailed suffering, hostility, and pain … but it was worth it! The Scripture says in Hebrews 12:2 says that Jesus endured the cross because of the joy that awaited Him. His reward: Victory over sin and death, reunion with the Father, and us when He returns.

Reaching our goals, too, may entail suffering, hostility, or pain. Hopefully, our face is steadfastly set on being like Christ and serving Him with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind. Paul gives us great encouragement in 2 Timothy 4:7, which we can also adapt. The reward: The Lord gives the crown of righteousness.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Tim. 4:7)

Oh, I pray this is a blessing to you today!

Our Faith Connections Challenge: Press on. Endure. Persevere. Keep your eyes fixed toward the goal. Read and meditate on the Scriptures mentioned.

Precious Lord, we praise You for Your great love. We thank You for the sacrifice You made for us. May I intentionally focus on loving and serving You with all my heart, soul, strength, and mind. In Your precious name, Amen.
