What are you looking at?

We recently saw the movie, “Land,” a compelling story about a woman’s journey through grief (Chatham & Dignam, 2021). Initially, the character chooses isolation and does not want any news from the outside world. As the story progresses, her focus changes. With the help of new, caring friends, she receives health, strength, and lessons on survival. She chooses to focus on and appreciate her new surroundings. In the beginning, she focuses on loss and no hope. In the end, she focuses on renewed life and hope.

Like the movie character, our eyes can choose to focus on life’s chaos and distractions or joy and beauty. When we go through chaotic times, we need others to help restore and guide us. When we recognize the beauty around us, we must focus on and appreciate the blessings and joys.

So, what are you looking at?

Connections Challenge: Instead of focusing on the chaos, help someone in need. A text. A meal. A visit. You could bring the life and hope they need.
