Flourishing in the New Year

Welcome to Faith Connections Friday! Happy New Year 2020! My prayer for you is that this year is full of blessings.

It is inevitable that change will come this year. As we evaluate 2019, we may choose to make resolutions for 2020 we hope will change our lives for the better.

A passage of Scripture that has recently become special to me is Psalm 92:12-15. These verses say the righteous and those planted in the house of the Lord will flourish and grow; the mature continue to thrive, bear fruit, and prosper; they will be fresh and flourishing; and they will declare the Lord is upright, a rock, and fully righteous.

“The righteous will flourish like the date palm [long-lived, upright and useful]; They will grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic and stable]. Planted in the house of the LORD, They will flourish in the courts of our God. [Growing in grace] they will still thrive and bear fruit and prosper in old age; They will flourish and be vital and fresh [rich in trust and love and contentment]; [They are living memorials] to declare that the LORD is upright and faithful [to His promises]; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭92:12-15‬, ‭AMP‬‬)

Have you thought about what you would like to accomplish in 2020? This coming year is an opportunity to flourish, grow, thrive, bear fruit, prosper, be fresh, and be a continuous testimony of the Lord. The key players are “the righteous” and “those planted in the house of the Lord.” I hope to finally achieve a personal dream that I have been working on for too many years.

My deepest heart desire is to be righteous, planted, grounded, and firmly rooted in the Lord. How? Matthew 6:33 (AMP) gives the answer, “But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” If I have the right heart and seek Him first, whether or not I achieve the dream, I know He provides the opportunities to declare the Lord’s righteousness.
