A young boy and his father are in the middle of a storm, and the young boy is afraid. The father extends his hand to his son, and the son takes his father’s hand. Why? Because he knows he is safe in his father’s care. We may experience frightening circumstances. Yet, when we commit ourselves to Someone we trust, we feel security and peace.
Peace. Serenity. Maybe it comes while enjoying a view of the mountains or ocean or reading a book and sipping a hot beverage while sitting near a babbling brook. Perhaps peace comes with trying a new recipe, enjoying a day of pampering at the spa, or taking a brisk walk. How do you find peace?
Isaiah 9:6 lists the fourth name of God that gives us this answer—Prince of Peace. He is the Master of Peace. When we begin feeling fearful or anxious, we call upon His name, Prince of Peace. Because He is our peace, His peace calms us.
We also receive assurance of His everlasting peace and promised fulfillment. Isaiah 9:7 (AMP) says, “There shall be no end to the increase of His government and of peace, [He shall rule] on the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From that time forward and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.” (Emphasis mine.)
