Have you ever been in a situation in which you sought direction for your life? No doubt you may have many times. The questions come. What am I supposed to do with my life? How do I know it is the right path? What if I am wrong? What can I do to find the will of God for my life?
Many years ago, as I was seeking the vocational path for my life, I asked these questions. As a young person, I felt the direction to enter the administrative profession.
In high school, I applied for one of the best vocational schools in Dallas. Before opening “the letter” from the vocational school, I sought guidance from Scripture. The passage I felt led to read was Joshua 1:6-9. These words speak of strength and courage. It directs to meditate on the Word and obey its teachings. In doing so, one will be prosperous and have good success. It encourages to not be afraid and assures of God’s presence. The letter communicated that I was accepted into the school, and it was a blessed training experience for which I am most grateful.

This passage in Joshua gave me great peace and hope. Still today, these words are dear to my heart because of that moment. The principles teach that if we prioritize time in God’s Word and are obedient to His teachings, we will be successful. We are not promised to be rich in possessions or successful by our standards. We will be prosperous and successful in the way God chooses to bless. Some of those ways may be in character, integrity, compassion, and boldness.
Our Faith Connection: Pray, read, and meditate on Joshua 1:6-9. What is the definition of success you see from these verses? What actions challenge you?
Lord, thank You for Your Word. May I take the time to meditate on Your Word and understand Your definition of success and grow in obedience to Your perfect way. In Your holy name, Amen.
