Welcome to Faith Connection Friday! We connect the pursuit of excellence to faith.
One of the most moving scenes in the movie, “The Passion of the Christ,” portrays Jesus being flogged. At the point he appears to have exhausted strength, he gets back up and takes more. This scene is a reminder of the ultimate love Jesus has for us. He knew we were worth the price and continued to the cross. He is the sacrifice that displays strength.
Connecting sacrifice to strength involves our mind, will, and emotions by focused determination and discipline. This strength is displayed with humility, gentleness, and patience. We notice examples in Scripture of Jesus exercising this focused strength by His life of love, selflessness, and purpose.
Several times during the year, a church congregation observes sacred ordinances, which cause remembrance and reflection upon Jesus’ sacrifice. These times are reminders of His precious and passionate love for us. We receive confidence and strength by this truth and are encouraged to follow His example of living a life of sacrificial strength.
Our Faith Connection Challenge for the week: Read about the life of Jesus in The Holy Bible, and identify examples of His strength represented in the passages. Think of ways you can apply love, selflessness, and purpose.
Lord, thank You for the ultimate price You paid for me. May I be strengthened by Your life so I can be an example to others of Your love. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
