Christians revere the name of God’s Son because of what it represents. God the Father chose the name of Jesus for His Son, which means “God with us.” He is personal. He is ever present.
There is a plethora of songs about the name of Jesus that beautifully describe Him. Some contemporary songs that come to mind include “Wonderful Name,” “You Are Holy,” “Your Great Name,” and “Let It Be Jesus.”
The name of God is so reverent and holy that Jews cannot speak it. Other names throughout Scripture that identify Him include Prince of Peace, Savior, God Almighty, the God Who Sees, Jehovah Jireh (Provider), Jehovah Rapha (Healer), Redeemer, and Wonderful. The name of Jesus is so precious because He willingly sacrificed His life just so that we could live forever with Him. His name is powerful. It brings healing, comfort, deliverance, and peace. And His name changes us.
Remember Whose you are and the Name you represent.
Our Faith Connection for the week: What do you think of when you hear the name of Jesus? How do you speak His name? Research names of God and find one that resonates with you. Meditate on it this week. As you go throughout your day, remember Whose you are and the Name you represent. As we understand who He is and what He has done for us, may we say His name with reverence because He is worthy of our praise.
Lord Jesus, You are my Rock, my Deliverer. I praise You for all You are. May I revere Your precious Name. Hallelujah and Amen.
