Holiday Rest

How can I find time to rest this season? There’s so much to do!

The idea of resting sounds impossible, doesn’t it? Parties. Holiday performances. Kids’ plays. Gifts to buy and wrap. Travel. Family visiting. And let’s not forget the end of the year work deadlines.

The human body is a magnificent mystery. If you do not take the time to rest, your body may eventually force you to slow down. It’s that important.

One way to help calm your mind and body is through breath work. I normally practice this before I get out of bed and start the day. You can do this as you get a cup of hot coffee or tea, take a bathroom break, or take a quick walk. It’s a great practice when feeling overwhelmed or stressed. It also helps before responding to someone who is upset. There are other practices your physician may recommend to help your mind and body rest.

Connections Challenge: Take a few deep breaths. Focus. If you can, try a bit of breath work. Practice a few times during the day or when you most need to pause. Notice the benefits of calmness and clarity.
