Welcome to Faith Connections Friday!
Focus words help keep us … focused. The word redirects our mind when we are distracted.
What word would you identify as God’s focus word? Hint: It will never change, and He is never distracted from His focus.
The word? Love. And the ultimate expression of love is found in John 3:16,
“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 AMP
For several years, my focus word was trust. Since anxiety is a challenge, I have to continually and intentionally focus by praying, meditating on Scripture, and remembering God’s character. This year, however, the focus changed to two words—obedience and peace. How did I arrive at these words? Initially, the first word, obedience, came to mind. Then, a few days into the new year, peace came to mind.
Call me weird, but do you see a connection with these words? As I develop with trust, obedience (sometimes) seems easier. The result is peace. Love envelops them all.

“And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 AMP
Our Faith Connections Challenge: How would you connect your focus word to faith? Look up the definition of your focus word, and identify key words. Search for the words in resources such as Bible.org, YouVersion.com, or gotquestions.org, and read the associated Scriptures. In your Bible reading, find stories and characters that share these characteristics. Enjoy and be blessed, my friend!
