How Do You Worship?

Welcome to Faith Connections Friday! It is a joy having you today! For the next several weeks until Easter, we will identify a biblical character from the Easter story and connect them to our life’s pursuit of excellence.

Two events leading to the Easter story involves Mary of Bethany. We witness one of the most beautiful biblical characters and the way she worships. In Luke 10:38-42, we see Mary worshipping the Lord while sitting at His feet and listening to Him teach and minister. In Mark 14:3-9 and John 12:1-8, we see her anointing the Lord’s feet with expensive perfume and then drying His feet with her hair. She had a focused worship and deep heart for the Lord.

Since Jesus is no longer with us physically, we cannot worship Him in the same way as Mary. We uniquely worship Him in different ways. Some ways one may best worship the Lord include prayer, music, serving, or a component of a worship service. There are different ways to worship, yet the focus is the same: Jesus, the Lord.

The way I best worship the Lord is through music. It is personal, deeply moving, and uniquely expresses the desires of my heart. The song, “The More I Seek You,” is one that quickly comes to mind when I read about the example of Mary. It reflects Mary’s heart and a deep desire to worship Him.

Our Faith Connections Challenge: As we prepare for this Easter season, how do you best worship the Lord? Find a quiet place to read and reflect on the passages mentioned. Listen to the song. If you seek Him, you will find Him (Deuteronomy 4:29).
