Who is one of your favorite sitcom fathers? What is it about him that makes him a favorite? Is it his compassion? His listening ability when one of his children has an overwhelming challenge? Is it the loving way he speaks when there is a conflict within the family?
One of God’s names is Everlasting Father. Everlasting means He always was, He always is, and He always will be (Revelation 4:8). He is without beginning and without end.
To many, identifying God as Father is sensitive and heartbreaking because we easily associate with our earthly father. With God as our Everlasting Father, it means He is a Father who never leaves or abandons. He is always present and always has a listening ear. He is gentle, tender, compassionate, and loves unconditionally (Matthew 7:7-11). As our heavenly Father, He is our source of never-ending provision, providing our needs and what is best for us. And when we stray, He gives only loving discipline when it is necessary.
Our Faith Connection Challenge: When you feel alone, remember that God is present; and you are not alone. He is a loving, tender Father who loves you with an everlasting, unconditional love. Be blessed!
