“My God is so big, So strong and so mighty, There’s nothing my God cannot do … The mountains are His, The rivers are His, The stars are His handiwork too. My God is so big, So strong and so mighty, There’s nothing my God cannot do.”
(Listen to the VeggieTales version here.)
The story in 1 Kings 18 always amazes me. The way in which the LORD God defeats the prophets of Baal displays His mighty power only He possesses. When Elijah was on Mount Carmel, he challenged the prophets of Baal to call their gods to set fire to an altar. After so many attempts, their gods never answered. Elijah then had gallons of water drench the altar. He called upon God, and He immediately answered and set fire to the altar, licking up the water. My God is mighty … nothing will be impossible with God (1 Kings 18:36-39).
The story in Luke 1 always amazes me. The virgin birth. “How can this be?,” Mary said (Luke 1:34). My God is mighty … nothing will be impossible with God (Luke 1:37).
We have a story. Is it one that testifies of God’s mighty power? As we reflect on the message of this song, we see its personal significance. “My God is so big, So strong and so mighty, There’s nothing my God cannot do … The mountains are His, The rivers are His, The stars are His handiwork too. My God is so big, So strong and so mighty, There’s nothing my God cannot do.”
