“I just don’t get it!”

Okay, you have explained the instructions the same way so many times that it’s driving you insane and they are just not getting it.

What could be a solution? It is possible that using the same delivery method is blocking the instructions from getting through to the learners. Instead of delivering the information the same way to everyone, try using a different method.

Not everyone learns the same way. Some people best learn by actually seeing pictures, graphs, or charts to gain a clear vision of a project. Some people best learn by listening to music, audiobooks, or the instructions. Some people best learn by doing. It’s anything that gives them hands-on training and learning.

Here are a couple of articles that further discuss the ways people learn.

* Characteristics of Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic Learners

* VAK learning styles: what are they and what do they mean? Engage Education

Connections Challenge: If you feel frustrated from teaching others and it does not seem to be working, experiment with a different approach. Review the articles to identify the types of learners and how to best teach them.
