Welcome to Faith Connections Friday!
We are in a series for the next several weeks focusing on Psalm 119. If you would like to read ahead, read the entire psalm or a section each week. We are so glad you are here and hope you enjoy the series! Thank you!

Remembering and dwelling upon the past can sometimes be harmful or beneficial. When studying the Bible, we find instances in which the people are encouraged to remember the past.
For example, after the people crossed the Jordan River, they set up twelve stones (representing the twelve tribes of Israel) as a memorial (Joshua 4:3-7). When their children ask them what the stones mean, the people tell the stories about God’s faithfulness and deliverance.
Also in the Old Testament are descriptions of the multiple feasts, festivals, and ordinances that many people continue to observe to remember certain key events in Jewish history.
In the selected verses of Psalm 119:49-56, we notice the psalmist’s repetition of remembering. The psalmist recalls God’s promises, God’s Word, and God’s personal presence.
The psalmist gains strength and comfort from God’s Word and presence. Can you understand and relate to the psalmist when he feels despair? Thankfully, God graciously provides comfort, mercy, and hope as promised in Lamentations 3:21-24.
A benefit of the presence of the Holy Spirit, our Helper, is that He will remind us of the teachings of Jesus and the stories of the people in the Bible (John 14:26). This comforting verse promises that we are not left alone to figure out life and what the Bible means. He’s right there with us to teach and give us understanding. Isn’t that just incredibly awesome?!
Faith Connections Challenge: Read and reflect upon these passages. Reflect on your history and notice God’s continuous presence and faithfulness. He is our hope!
