Have you been in a role where you worked with a team that seemed like family? Maybe you have such a role now. Maybe it’s a neighborhood group or a community organization. You learn likes and dislikes. You learn strengths and weaknesses. You learn what motivates and demotivates. You learn the good and the bad. You learn limitations.
What do you notice when someone faces a challenging situation or hardship? Does the person remain calm? Does the person panic or cry?
What do you notice about the people around them? Do people connect with them?
Let’s make it a little more personal.
How do you respond? Do you remain calm? Do you panic or cry? Do people connect with you?
Back to the initial question.
If you or someone in your “family” faces such a situation, consider these questions. Is there someone who is an encourager? Is there someone who could see the situation from a different perspective? Is there someone that will be lovingly gentle yet direct?
Each of us needs these people. We need encouragers. We need people who can see a situation differently, especially if we can only see one point. We need people who are tender and direct.
Connections Challenge: Yes, lots of questions. Hopefully, they encourage you to take notice of the people who may be struggling or are in a tough situation. What will be your response? What type of person will you choose to be for someone who needs you? We need each other.
