Dan is diligently and consistently set on doing what is right and exceeding expectations. Occasionally, he feels that no matter how hard he tries, it may never be enough for some. What advice would you give Dan to stay the course?
Now, let’s make it personal.
Can you relate to Dan? How do you feel when you are in similar situations? You want to do what is right but feel like it’s never enough. Maybe you have a relative, colleague, or friend that you cannot seem to please despite your best efforts.
Been there. Done that. Yet, I continue to learn that situations have a way of working out. Usually, someone takes another job or moves. However, that does not give permission to ignore the relationship or avoid interaction. Honor and respect the person with the utmost kindness in words and actions.
Here are some ideas for keeping your mindset fixed on excellence.
* Pursue an exemplary character of excellence and integrity.
* Exemplify your conduct and attitude with excellence.
* Prioritize relationships.
* Honor and respect others through kind words and actions.
* Practice forgiveness and grace anyway, even if not returned.
* Complete the most mundane of tasks with excellence.
* Commit to a life of continuous learning. Challenge yourself to read a certain number of books. Learn something new or a way to enhance current tasks.
Does this seem impossible? Challenging? Absolutely!
People are noticing how you handle stress and conflict. They may be seeking how to manage their challenges and do not know where to turn for help. (Surprisingly, it may even be a difficult person in your life.) You could be the key in helping them. Cultivating a mindset of excellence impacts you and others.
