Welcome to Faith Connections Friday!
Holiday schedules are full. Planning and activities seem unending. Many look forward to the arrival of the new year as normalcy begins to appear.
An interesting word in the Bible that could surround the concept of rest is “selah.”
The Book of Psalms is full of separate psalms with “Selah” at the end of some portions. Since Psalms are primarily songs, “selah” can connect to a musical pause. This invites the singer or reader to pause and reflect on the previous words. A couple of psalms that are worth taking a few minutes to meditate and reflect upon are Psalm 32 and Psalm 84.
This holiday season invites you to pause and reflect on the meaning and the blessings surrounding the season. Thank God for His love, provision, and salvation to us.
Faith Connections Challenge: Read the selected psalms slowly and meditatively. Pause at each section. Reflect upon and thank God for His characteristics that you see in the words. Find other psalms that have “selah.” Practice these steps as you read other passages of Scripture. An example for this season is a portion of Luke 2.
