Welcome to Faith Connections Friday!
We are in a series for the next several weeks focusing on Psalm 119. If you would like to read ahead, read the entire psalm or a section each week. We are so glad you are here and hope you enjoy the series! Thank you!
Hopefully, you recognize how much the psalmist loves God’s Word. He does not just read it. He meditates on it. He memorizes it. He absolutely loves it. Why? Because he knows it is life. It is nourishment. It is comfort. It is strength.
This week, we explore Psalm 119:89-96 where the psalmist mentions the importance of teaching it to others and especially to future generations.
The Bible shows us continually the assurance of God’s faithfulness. His provision. His compassion. His tender mercies.
That is why the psalmist loves God’s Word so much. That’s why he encourages us to know God as he does. His words are testimonies to us of what he has been through with God.
One of the passages in Scripture emphasizing the importance of teaching others is Deuteronomy 6:4-9, known as the Shema. This specifically instructs parents to teach their children the stories that had been passed down through generations, which we have in the Bible.
These principles apply to teaching our families, friends, and colleagues. How else will generations know of God’s faithfulness unless they learn through the stories in the Bible? How else will people see the reality of God’s character and activity unless we tell others what He has done in our lives?
Faith Connections Challenge: This week read and meditate upon this and other passages. Read the stories in a translation that you find easy to understand. Share with others what you have learned. How did you see God in the passage? What is one takeaway you could learn?
