Welcome to Faith Connections Friday!
We are in a series for the next several weeks focusing on Psalm 119. If you would like to read ahead, read the entire psalm or a section each week. We are so glad you are here and hope you enjoy the series! Thank you!
Our focused Scripture passage is Psalm 119:65-72. The psalmist states his gratefulness for the affliction, the pain, that he experiences. He understands the goodness and blessings of the power and life of God’s Word and God’s presence.
We all have stories of how we have been through or are experiencing difficult and painful situations. We lose people we love. We experience heartbreak, rejection, or betrayal. As the psalmist remains thankful, we can follow his example.
The psalmist’s writings remind me of another person who not only experienced pain but whose name was a reminder of pain. His name is Jabez. He prays that God would bless him in specific ways so that he would not cause pain to anyone. He asks God to expand his sphere of influence, to be with him, and to keep him from evil. What did God do? He graciously answered his prayer!
Whatever pain you may be currently experiencing, I pray that you would see the pain as a blessing. That God would expand your sphere of influence. That you will know that God is right there alongside you through the pain. That you would be guarded from any evil. That you would be the blessing to others.
Faith Connections Challenge: This song, “Blessings” by Laura Story, continues to be a source of great comfort and encouragement through painful experiences. I hope it encourages and blesses you.
