Welcome to Faith Connections Friday!
We begin a series for the next several weeks focusing on Psalm 119. if you would like to read ahead, read the entire psalm or a section each week. We are glad you are here and hope you enjoy the series! Thank you!
As you read the Bible, you quickly discover that some of the words and commands are impossible to keep up with and obey perfectly. And, yes, they are!
The Israelites eventually had over 600 laws to obey. How did they do it? Well, they didn’t. They couldn’t.

Being unable to do every single law perfectly all the time was completely impossible and considered sin. The inability to keep all of the Law emphasized the need for a Savior. In the New Testament, we learn that the only One who could perfectly keep the Law was Jesus.
Jesus loves people so much that He chose to die a horribly brutal death. Then, He resurrected! Why? The Savior defeated sin and made a way for people to avoid eternal separation from God—the way to live a life full of hope! (John 3:16).
What does this have to do with the impossible words and commands to obey?
After Jesus ascended to heaven, He sent a Gift: the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, our Helper, walks alongside us teaching us how to love God and live for Him. We no longer have the laws of the Israelites. Instead, we are commanded to love God with our entire being and love others (Mark 12:29-31).
Faith Connections Challenge: The writer of Psalm 119:1-8 gives a glimpse of the blessings of loving God, desiring to know Him, and following Him. Read the entire Psalm 119 or slowly read one section at a time. Notice the repeated references to the Word, which shows its importance.
